Gauranga Balite Ha’be
Srila Narottama dasa Thakura
‘gauranga’ balite ha’be pulaka sharira
‘hari hari’ balite nayane va’be nira (1)
‘gauranga’ balite= saying or singing Gauranga, ha’be=will happen, pulaka=asta-sattvika bhava such as horripilation, etc., sharira=body
‘hari hari’ balite =saying or singing Hari, nayane=eyes, va’be=overflow, nira=water/tears (1)
When will that time come that my hairs will stand on end upon singing the name “Gauranga?” When will my eyes overflow with tears as I chant the holy names of “Hari Hari?”
ara kabe nitai-cadera karuna haibe
samsara-vasana mora kabe tuccha ha’be (2)
ara =and, kabe=when, nitai=Nityananda prabhu, cadera=moon like, karuna=mercy, haibe= will bestow, samsara=material world, vasana=desires, mora=mine, kabe=when, tuccha=small, insignificant, ha’be=will become (2)
And when will the moon of Nityananda Prabhu bestow His mercy on me? When will my material desires become small and insignificant?
vishaya chadiya kabe shuddha ha’be mana
kabe hama heraba shri vrindavana (3)
vishaya=material enjoyment, chadiya=leaving, kabe=when, shuddha=purified, ha’be=will become, mana=mind, kabe=when, hama=I , heraba=will see, shri vrindavana (3)
When will I renounce material enjoyment and my mind will become purified? When will I see the chinmaya svarupa of Shri Vrindavana?
rupa-raghunatha-pade haibe akuti
kabe hama bujhaba se yugala-piriti (4)
rupa-raghunatha-pade=at the lotus feet of Rupa and Raghunatha, haibe=will arise, akuti=intense attachment, kabe=when, hama=I , bujhaba=will understand, se=that, yugala-piriti=divine love of Sri Sri Radha and Krishna (4)
When will I eagerly follow the path of Shri Rupa Gosvami and Shri Raghunatha dasa Gosvami? By their instructions I will be able to understand the divine love of Shri Radha and Krishna.

prarthana karaye sada narottama dasa (5)
rupa-raghunatha-pade=at the lotus feet of Rupa and Raghunatha, rahu=remain, mora=my, asha=desire, hope, prarthana=prayer,karaye=doing, sada=always, narottama dasa (5)
My only aspiration is to attain the lotus feet of Shri Rupa Gosvami and Shri Raghunatha dasa Gosvami. This is Narottama dasa’s constant prayer.
